    Are you overweight or obese? Use BMI as gauge

    One of the first thing to gauge if your weight has put you at risk of Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes is to calculate your Body Mass Index or BMI in short.  BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It applies to both sexes.

    The formula is:

    Generally, the BMI categories are

    Category Normal Weight Overweight Obese
    BMI Values 18.5~24.5 25.0~29.9 30.0 or higher
