Diabetes is a Chronic Illness (Disease)

    By edwinseow | May 4, 2008

What is the meaning of Chronic Illness (Disease)?

A person with a chronic illness means that the person has a medical condition that stays with him/her for many years.  Chronic illness and conditions may caused the person to lose physical condition and suffer problems over many years.  Some examples of chronic illnesses (diseases) are lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, stroke, hypertension, backache, allergy, cancer…and many more.

On the other hand, shortlived medical conditions are called acute illness. People with acute illness can return to normal health quickly with prompt and effective treatment.

Therefore. if you are a diabetic, you have to be mentally prepared and disciplined as it is a long-term illness.  If you are being diagnosed with prediabetes, you still have a chance to stop it from developing into Type 2 diabetes if you start to take action right NOW.
