Commonly Used Terms in Diabetes

Glucose -
Hyperglycemia / Hyperglycaemia - too much sugar or glucose in the blood (also see Ketoacidosis)
Hypoglycemia / Hypoglycaemia - too little sugar or glucoseĀ in the blood (also see Ketones)
InsulinĀ - a hormone produced in the pancreas that regulates the level of glucose in the blood
Ketoacidosis - severe excess of glucose in the blood (see hyperglycaemia)
Pancreas - digestive and endocrine gland which produces insulin and other digestive hormones
