There is No Such Thing as a “Diabetic Diet”

What is a “Diabetic Diet”? I used to ask this question and now i know that there is no such thing. There only exist a diet known as “Balanced Diet”.
Therefore, a recommended diet for diabetes and prediabetes is no different for a normal person - that is to eat healthily.
A Balanced Diet:
- choose different kinds of food from each of the 4 major groups everyday: CHO, Vegetables & Fibre, Protein and Fat
- Other important nutrients include vitamins and minerals
- eat less of the food at the top of the food pyramid: fat, oil, sugar and salt
- eat at regular times of the during
- take food quantity in moderation
- avoid skipping meals due to risk of hypoglycemia and tendency to indulge in next meal.
