If you suspect you are suffering from high blood glucose / sugar or Hyperglycemia (Hyperglycaemia) and also experience some of these symptoms, you can do the following:

    1. Check your blood glucose / sugar level immediately using your blood glucose meter
    2. If your blood glucose levels are higher than normal, drink more fluid.  Choose plain water or sugar-free or non-caffeinated drinks.  Do not take fruit juices.
    3. Check your blood glucose every 4 hourly and take your medications as prescribed
    4. Exercise to reduce your sugar levels but only in the absence of ketones
    5. Reduce the amount of food you eat especially carbohydrates
    6. If your blood glucose or ketones do not return to normal levels, seek assistance from your doctor.

Treating Hyperglycemia is important as prolonged high blood glucose / sugar levels can lead to many complications later
