This is a continuation of my previous posts on Hypoglycemia (Hypoglycaemia) or low blood sugar / glucose or you can read it here.
If you suspect you are suffering from low blood glucose / sugar or Hypoglycaemia (Hypoglycemia) and also experience some of these symptoms, you can do the following:
- Check your blood glucose / sugar level immediately using your blood glucose meter
- If your blood glucose is <4mmol/L, you are suffering from Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar
- Quickly raise your blood sugar / glucose levels by taking
- a sweet or candy
- half a glass of fruit juice
- half a glass of fizzy drink
- half a glass of milk or honey
- piece of chocolate
- a sweet biscuit
- a glucose tablet
If you are feeling better, proceed to eat some starchy food like
- biscuits
- bread
- fruits - bananas, apples
- food high in carbohydrate - potato, rice
Check your blood sugar / glucose levels again some 30 minutes later to ensure the blood sugar / glucose levels are back to normal. If your blood sugar / glucose levels are still low, seek medical help immediately.
Hope that this simple post can be of help.
